Qnap Qusbcam : Live view only on Chrome. Snapshots for IE, Firefox

Qusbcam and Qmanager were the biggest reasons for me to upgrade to Qnap 3.7.1 firmware . Even Magnet link support for Download manager is nice, thought I solved that problem with transmission long back.

The upgraded Qusbcam is to be installed via Qpkg as before, but it has many better features.

However the live view only works with Chrome on PC . I tried in Firefox, IE and chrome for android and saw that the live view button is replaced with Snapshot button.

QUSBCam has such a potential. you don’t have to buy any IP camera, just plug any regular webcam into QNAP and use it for surveillance. I am sure many people have old redundant webcams that they can turn into surveillance cams.

I hope they fix it to give full support on other browsers, it would also be nice to have an ios/android app for mobile surveillance

  1. Dear Akash,

I have a QNAP TS212 and on this unit QUSBCam works fine when I use A PC with windows7 and the Google Chrome browser.
But when I use the same browser on my Samsung S4 smart phone (maybe not so smart…..Hi), I can “login” but I never see a picture on the screen..
Do you have any idea why?
    regards,
